For the next two or three weeks, Al will be sharing pivotal Scriptures pertaining to Jordan’s being a place of safety. - Anita
I took an analytical approach to the web interviews we heard about the present day Kingdom of Jordan as being the place of refuge for the end of days.
For several months Anita and I had been looking for a place outside the USA to live in response to the urge to find a new home. It was a big surprise after searching for peace in our spirit about a move and finding it in an unexpected place, but it was verified with many witnesses.
How was it affirmed?
The first indication that Jordan was the place came from the Lord speaking to Anita.
Second, I found very strong witness from three Scriptures.
The third came from the many people who had already moved there with the same motive and Biblical understanding.
Of these, the most important one was the three Scriptures. We hold the perspective that the last days are upon us---the ones preceding the coming of Messiah. This keeps us looking and preparing as the signs progressively reveal that great event.
There will be a catching-away/rapture. Some understand the timing of it differently than others. Regardless of your belief about that, however, everyone needs to understand this teaching about a place of refuge for the end of days. I will expand additional Scriptural evidence in subsequent blogs.
Please consider that regardless of how the end-time scenario plays out, there will be a multitude of people who wish they had known about a place of refuge, but they will not find one. There will be no hiding place secure enough to provide protection from the Antichrist except where the prophet Daniel reveals. Antichrist’s minions will find those hidden. Believers in Yeshua/Jesus will then be face-to-face with two options: the choice between dying for their faith and saving their soul or accepting the mark of the beast and losing their soul. It is a serious matter.
There have been many times in history when various people groups desperately needed a place of refuge from an oppressor. No doubt, those among them who were Bible students thought, “This must be the tribulation.” For them, it was. Yet their troubles, horrific as they were, will not compare to the severity of the Great Tribulation to come.
Let’s begin our study with the verse shown on our home page. Of all the Bible references available to support this notion, this is the definitive verse that is the most convincing on the subject of refuge in Jordan.
He [Antichrist]shall come into the glorious land [Israel]. And tens of thousands shall fall,
but these shall be delivered out of his hand:
Edom and Moab and the main part of the Ammonites.
Daniel 11:41 ESV
The context of this verse is one of Daniel’s angelic visitations as a Babylonian captive.
The first thirty-four verses of Daniel 11 predicts 375 years with great accuracy and outlines history which came to pass from three kings of Persia through the conquering sweep of Alexander the Great up to and including the reign and defeat of Antiochus IV Epiphanes.
The rest of the chapter, verses 35-45, makes a timeline jump to the future and exposes the power of the coming Antichrist to conquer many nations. He will wage wars that will destroy tens of thousands. In fact, the whole world will come under his sway, except for one region encompassing three historical countries all joined together: Edom, Moab and the chief sons of Ammon. These slip out of his hands.
The predictions enumerated in this passage can definitely be associated only and specifically to the last days, because they were not fulfilled near the time they were given nor even to this day. Yeshua validated Daniel’s prophecy for a future time when he referred to it in Matthew 24.
"So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel,
standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
Matthew 24:15-16 ESV
With this revelation, Anita and I wanted to know more about present-day Edom, Moab, and Ammon, so we looked into it. Who were these people historically?
Let’s look at the family genealogy of Abraham.
He had a nephew named Lot. Angels led Lot and his two daughters out of Sodom before God destroyed it. The daughters, thinking it was the end of the world and no men were left to keep the human race going, tricked their father into inseminating them. They each had a son.
One was named Moab (meaning “from her father”).
The other was called Ammon (meaning “tribal” or “inbred”).
Abraham had a son he named Isaac, who had twin sons: Jacob and Esau.
Because he was of ruddy complexion (and maybe red hair), Esau was also called Edom, which comes from a root word meaning red.
So Abraham’s great nephews, Moab and Ammon, and his grandson, Edom, are his descendants like the Israelites are (from Jacob). But they have been bitter enemies down through history even though they are family.
It is ironic that Yehovah has designated the lands of Israel’s enemies to be the place of refuge for all who call on His name and believe in Him.
You, who are believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, are likely to be taken aback at the idea of living as a guest among those who have been historic enemies to the people of Israel. Knowing that situation, we were initially concerned even though today, there is a tenuous peace treaty between the State of Israel and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
After much research into the legendary hospitality of the Jordanians through reading current books, seeing YouTube videos, talking with expats living there, and experiencing it ourselves firsthand during our three-week visit, the concern about living there dissipated.
There are a good number of people from the USA and other countries residing there without any angst. Many we talked with indicated they love living there. They feel safe walking in the marketplaces during the day or going out for a stroll and dinner at night. The door is open and a very friendly “Welcome, welcome” is a frequent expression flowing from Jordanian lips. In our experience, these lovely folks even come up to you on the street to engage in inquiring conversation. The landlord of one of the retired women expats adopted her as grandmother to his children.
When will we make the move? The answer to that question lies in timing. We are working on our part in getting things ready, and we rely on Yehovah for the rest. When everything is finished, He’ll tell us to go.
In the meantime, someone urged us to write a book about our call in order to document it for ourselves and to share with others while we are still here in America. We are almost finished with the first half of that. We have launched a website for this blog to inform the world. And we are studying online courses so we can generate work from anywhere. Every day we move forward toward our goal.
For your peace of mind, please continue studying about the end of days to understand and consider your options. I believe that over the next few blogs, clarity will come to you. I will present additional Scriptural support for this place of refuge and also list the various and distinct threats everyone will face in the end of days.
